I Got an Awesome V-neck T-shirt Today

By Jonathan Day

I also got a western style shirt that when paired with aforementioned t-shirt makes me feel like teen heart throb Zac Efron in that movie Seventeen Again, and I don’t hate that look on me. I went to Brown Thomas too and was browsing the summer sales, however when it comes to sales – whatever time of the year, I go with the intention of getting a great bargain. My body then gravitates to the new season of clothes that of course are firmly overpriced. Today was no exception, thankfully I had support to drag me away before I threw my new credit card at the cashier. I did find a bit of clothing enigma in the form of a military style jacket with loads of funky pockets all over it that was on the side of a sale rail with no price tag on it. It fit like a glove and looked really fun and cute, I couldn’t handle it being not on sale for a good price, or worse – being on sale but still super expensive, like 40% off €400 is still way out of my price range so I left it in the store and will always think of it as the jacket that never was. Maybe serendipity will be kind and deliver it in a different way. A boy can dream can’t he?

After I left the designer shop de luxe I need some sort of retail therapy to take the edge off all the lust I was feeling as I walked out the door. I made my way to a more reasonably priced clothes store and that is where I found my Efron outfit. My boyfriend scoffed at the fact I was buying today. He just moved to London with a fantastic new job and I’m visiting him and London for the first time this coming Friday. He argued that there would be plenty of amazing clothes waiting for me to adopt them in London town, I argued back that I needed something new to wear over in order to impress London. I mean, we need to become best friends, I have high hopes and even higher expectations. My wardrobe had become stale and needed something fresh so that was today’s mission.

Like my wardrobe, my music library had become quite dull to me recently. I have yet to find my summer songs and before I know it the summer will be over and I will have been left listening to spring’s classics the whole time through. With some newly earned dough I hit up iTunes and got myself some fun tracks to spin on my iPod while I go about my business from day to day. I have aquired the new Noisettes album, Wild Young Hearts which I am really enjoying perhaps as much as I did What Time is it Mr.Wolf? Which I’ve loved on for a very long time since I first heard them singing a live version Count of Monte Christo on some random festival show on late one night on BBC 3. Wild Young Hearts does not disappoint, my favourites include Saturday Night and 24 hours. Also in there is both of M.I.A’s albums and Santogold which I have been meaning to get for a long time and they are certainly worth a listen. I am never without my awful cheesy pop and the like so there has also been a lot of Saturdays, some R&B and Hip Hop in the form of Ciara’s Fantasy Ride and looking forward to Jordin Sparks sophmore album while listening to the lead single from the record Battlefield .

Gaming wise I have been catching up with my roots by playing some Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Tomb Raider: Legend, a full nostalgic post is in the works on for that. For my DS I’ve been playing Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure, Elite Beat Agents and some Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright Trials and Tribulations. Enjoying all three in different ways, and also changing from one to another. I often find one can get bogged down and frustrated with one game at a time, particularly if they are difficult or text/story heavy it’s nice to alternate between the three so my gaming palate can be cleansed. However my constant gaming addiction at the moment is Peggle, with the original on my iPod Touch and Peggle Nights on my MacBook I can easily let hours pass by with no realisation as I watch the ball ping from peg to peg. Peggle is awesome, awesome like crack – Peggle Anonymous meetings need to be set up.

My summer adventures in the world of art are going to begin in a few days time when I hop on the plane to London. My first stop is Classified in the Tate Britain and after that the Royal academy summer show which I am extra excited about because there is an accompanying iPhone app to go along with the exhibition. Marrying my inner art freak and tech geek is enough for me to all bunnies and giggles come Friday afternoon. Stay tuned for my thoughts on these exhibitions in particular. I will be bringing my moleskine and pen to jot down my thoughts like some fancy art person. I hope that this summer in my time in the various London galleries and museums I will find inspiration for a really awesome and interesting final year dissertation that I have to already have to start thinking about because I refuse to let it slip by me like it did this year. As I head into my final year of college studying art history I hope to learn from what I did and didn’t do in my second year and hopefully come out at the end of the tunnel all the better for it.
