Student House

I am of the mind that in order to really be a true student there are many rites of passage one must pass through (For lack of a better word). Lots are obvious, including; eating terrible food at the Main Restaurant, getting viciously drunk at RAG week, surviving the college bathrooms and deliberately breaking Library rules (Use your imagination).

However there is one rite that only a select few manage to come by and that is living in a Student House. Now if your one of those people whose parents pay for your life. I hate you. You are blessed with one of those really nice student apartments and en-suite bathrooms. You don’t have to worry about a stranger breaking down your door or climbing into bed with you. You don’t have to worry about the horrific mess that will have to clean up in the morning because the cleaning lady does her job well. But I digress, what I want to talk about is shitty, tough student housing that only true hardcore students manage to survive. Let’s get through the list of things one encounters when living in a student house

-Empty Bottles and Cans that always have a bit left over in them so when you knock it over it spills and stinks everywhere

-People who you don’t know in your house, who ask you who you are when you walk down the stairs.

-That weird, stale, gross student house smell that is always there but can only be removed when a young family moves in and replaces all the furnishings

-Cigarette butts everywhere, all day, all night, all the time.

-Broken everything; locks, sinks, ovens, doors, toilets, showers, stairs, walls, mirrors,

-Music constantly playing, usually music as least one housemate will hate, simply because it keeps them awake when they’re trying to sleep.

-The television is also constantly on but often never watched

-People breaking down your door while you’re trying to sleep in bed.

-Drugs, both dealing and using.

-Sex and many things relating to that laying around the bathroom and front room.

-A shower that probably makes you more dirty than when you got in.

These are all things that I have encountered while living in my student house. I’m still there at the moment, but I hope to move again soon before something worse than what was mentioned above happens.
