As many of you know, I am quite the Apple fan. I find however, that Apple leaves Ireland a little behind as regards the iTunes Store. I love iTunes, and you cannot deny how great it is, allowing you to buy digital music legally. You can bitch about the way it is locked and fashioned for iPods but you can go away. Nobody cares about your alternative lifestyle anymore, you’re weird. I am addicted to iTunes, I think it’s brilliant because I love music, I love my iPod, I love my Mac, it’s all seamlessly perfect. Credit cards get a workout when in my possession. (Note to Self: invest in some gift cards). However I feel like something is missing; something is not right.
Unlike my UK and USA friends, we at the Ireland iTunes Store are missing the option to download TV Shows and Movies. Now there’s the obvious possibility that there are issues with licensing here in Ireland. However I fail to see what the hold up is? I demand that either Apple or silly Irish Licensing people hurry up and let me waste my little student money on Movies and TV shows I don’t really need. The best part of it is that once an episode airs, it is instantly on iTunes the next day, which means, if you missed it, you can catch up without a problem There’s also the fact that with the new AppleTV Take 2, the major pull of the device doesn’t exist here in Ireland, therefore sales of AppleTV are most likely miniscule.
Steve, I’ll eventually forgive you for the €17.99 upgrade for the iPod Touch which I refuse to pay. However fixing up my iTunes with some nice Movies & TV shows will sure help me love you once again a lot quicker.
